Troy, OH is the county seat of Miami County. Residents named the town after the ancient city of Troy. Established in 1808, Troy grew quickly primarily due to its location on the Great Miami River, the Miami and Erie Canal, and also on several important turnpikes. Troy is home to the Troy-Hayner Cultural Center, a 1914 Romanesque mansion donated to the city by Mary Jane Harter Coleman Hayner. Today, the Troy-Hayner houses the Hayner Distillery Collection as well as a variety of works by local artists.
