Irongate Community Matters!

"It's so important to be involved in the community. Give back when you can and never forget where you came from."

Giving back to the community has always been a big part of Wendy Rodgers' life. Holding current positions as a realtor and member of the WE Team at Irongate, President/CEO of the Beavercreek Chamber of Commerce, and President-elect of the Kiwanis Club, she devotes most of her time helping others.

When she moved back to Ohio in 2018 at the encouragement of her best friend of 40 years and eventual business partner, Ellen Henderson, she didn't know anyone. With no sphere of influence or support system, she turned to the Beavercreek Chamber of Commerce for help. The purpose of the Chamber is to link local businesses with the community. It offers networking opportunities, discounts, educational learning opportunities, and support. When Wendy first joined the Chamber, they were in need of a board member. She earned the spot, and in the following years, she increased her involvement by serving as the 2020 Board Chair, 2021 Vice-Chair, and newly-announced President/CEO.

When asked for her motivation to run for this position, Wendy answers, "The Chamber is dear to my heart and means a lot to me because I owe the start of my business to the Chamber. Being in it is a great opportunity to start your business and find out who the important figures are." She encourages anyone who is trying to kick start their business or find connections to join.

As President/CEO of the Chamber, she has a lot of responsibilities. She is in charge of recruiting and retaining their 515 business members, marketing, fundraising, and running the whole business.

On top of that, Wendy is also the president-elect for the Kiwanis Club of Beavercreek. The Kiwanis Club is a non-profit service club that helps children in Beavercreek and other surrounding locations. Some examples of projects they support include Feed the Creek, United Way's Dolly Parton Imagination Library children's literacy program, and Safety Town. They also help run the Key Club of Beavercreek which is a high school club.

"The Kiwanis Club and the Chamber all come together to form a circle. We teach kids leadership and responsibility. We hope that as they grow older, they come back to the community and give back by joining the Chamber," she adds.

We are so thankful for her involvement in helping the community. Wendy truly exemplifies Irongate's saying Community Matters, and we can't wait to see what she has in store for the future.

At Irongate Inc, Realtors, not only do our agents help our clients, they help the local community.

Sherry Stipp, of Baker, Cook, & Stipp Team, is one such agent. She has been an investor of Sueño, a contemporary Mexican restaurant that is opening up in downtown Dayton, for a year and a half. The restaurant celebrates the traditions and flavors of Mexico's current culinary scene and is led by an award winning Chef. Sueño is owned by The Idea Collective, a national hospitality firm who brought subterranean cocktail lounge Tender Mercy to Dayton last year, in the process earning critical acclaim as one of Esquire Magazines "Best Bars in America: 2021".

When The Idea Collective decided to anchor in the Dayton area, Sherry was introduced to them by her accountant. She decided to invest in their group, saying, "When I met the group of people, I felt very positive about them. I see opportunities, I like to take them." Sherry also pointed out the business aspects of her investment choice; Dayton is constantly going through new developments and the opening of Tender Mercy, Sueño and more adds needed energy and excitement to the revitalization to the downtown area. We thank her for her commitment to improving our community.

Sueño opened to the public July 7th and is located at 607 E 3rd St, Dayton, OH, near the Steam Plant. Reservations are suggested and can be made at Sueñ With its promise of 'bringing product into our kitchens that will both lift and satisfy our guests,'we can't wait to try this new establishment based in our very own local city.
